We make learning the history of Charleston fun!
Charleston is one of the most beautiful and iconic cities in the country let alone the south, but you have not gotten the full experience of Charleston if you only stay on land. Ask any local and they will tell you being on the water is a must, especially in the hot months, and also being out on the water is a major part of what living in the low country is all about.
Charleston is a very historic place and taking a Charleston harbor tour is a great way to see a lot of the sites and much of the history can actually be found out on the water. What better way to discover more about Charleston than relaxing on your very own private yacht with a knowledgeable captain and crew.
Our Tours Are Informative But Not To The Point Of Exhaustion
Our tour guides are extremely knowledgeable about the history of Charleston especially as it relates to Charleston Harbor but at the same time realize that you are coming out on the water because you want to relax. Sometimes that means simply having a moment of silence and listening to nature or listening to your favorite song while you feel the cool ocean breeze and smell the fresh salt air. This is your day so Captain Dave and his crew are always happy to accommodate for your desires.
Your Day Your Way
Want to hear more history on your tour?
No problem. Let Captain Dave know you are a sponge for history and want to hear lots of stories on your tour.
Change your mind and want to hear your favorite song instead?
Just let Captain Dave know. We have a bluetooth enabled sound system.
Want to take in the sounds of nature?
Ask Captain Dave to take you to the best spot to relax.

Up Close on the Historical Sites
When touring Charleston by land most people head to waterfront park which is one of the crown jewels of our city. The pineapple fountain located in the park has been voted one of the top ten fountains in the U.S.!
From there you can get some great views of the harbor, and of the Ravenel Bridge as well as Castle Pinckney in the foreground and a little further off in the distance Fort Sumpter. You can also see on many of the plaques in the park where everything is in the harbor. We actually bring you to those sites, right up close, and tell you about the history and what went on during the civil war and beyond. Its a much more interactive experience.
Some Fun Facts About Charleston
Did you know that on the lower peninsula no building can be higher than a church steeple?
You may not have noticed that as you can only really see that perspective from out on the water. Our harbor cruise takes you up close to all of the forts in the harbor including Fort Sumner and Fort Moultrie heading out of the harbor.
Did you know the first submarine, The Hunley, was launched in the harbor and sank a merchant ship, the Housatonic, a union ship right off the coast of Sullivan’s Island?
Well, really the sub was launched 3 times but you can ask Captain Dave more about that on the tour.
Special Features of Our Tour
Bathroom on Board
This may seem like a small thing but it is actually a pretty big deal. No one wants to be uncomfortable during the tour and this is especially important for families with young children. This is also a popular feature for our date night cruises, as well as our booze cruises, bachelorette parties, and bachelor parties. Really it comes in handy for the comfort of our guests on all our tours.
We Have AC
On the really hot days there is not much of a breeze blowing downtown. Most of the time simply riding around in the boat on the water is enough air conditioning but we do have the convienience of an air conditioned cabin to take a short break from the sun should the need arise. We find it much better to be out on the water with a breeze having a glass of wine or beer while taking in the sites. No walking around sweating and wondering when the march will be over. We have completely updated the boat so you can sit back relax and take in the sites in style.
Sea Life
There is so much to see on our harbor tours that I almost forgot about mentioning what our guests often say is their favorite part of the trip which is the wild life. When I say wild life I mean the dolphins. We have so many dolphins in the harbor. They are fun and playful and will usually come up to or close to the boat and hang out for a while. You have to watch for them as a lot of time our guests are having so much fun talking and hanging out with us that they simply forget to look. Don’t worry we are always on the look out for them as well as other sea creatures that pop up from time to time. Every tour is a dolphin tour with Carolina Marine Group. We also get sea turtles, manatees, sunfish, seagulls and pelicans.
Fun For The Whole Family
What Kid Doesn't Love Playing Captain?
Our trip is great for all ages including smaller ones. What kid doesn’t like going to the bridge and getting the chance to drive a big boat? They can with us! It’s a real life iPad game to keep them entertained while the adults can enjoy the yacht experience and take in the sites and relax. I promise this will be the best thing you do in Charleston! Just ask any of our guests and check our 5 star reviews on google.
Capt. Dave is HANDS DOWN the best Captain we've ever had! Not only does he know a TON about the history of Charleston, he's also super funny and makes the tour 100 times better than we could have imagined! We can't wait to come back and do another tour with Capt. Dave!
